(en) Italy, UCADI, #202 - What's New - Genocide in Palestine: The Slaughter Continues (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Fri, 9 Jan 2026 09:43:02 +0200

Trump's "peace plan" has had the desired effect of silence on the Palestinian genocide, proving more effective than the Israeli government's ban on the press from Gaza. Behind the Israeli army's withdrawal from the war zone lies the continued repression of Palestinians in Gaza through multiple means, ranging from targeted killings-more than 300 to date since the truce-to the collapse of healthcare and housing facilities, and starvation. Supplies, food, and medicines arrive from the Strip in dribs and drabs, and their distribution is uncertain and problematic, forcing the population to struggle every day to earn a living. These conditions are causing the unstoppable deterioration of living conditions for those who survive bombs and bullets of all kinds. The unlivable conditions are exacerbated by the onset of winter, which makes it impossible, or at least problematic, to live in makeshift tents, in shelters often made from debris scavenged here and there, for a population exhausted and weakened by deprivation and war.
The fact that officially the shooting is no longer taking place, or at least not with the same determination, cruelty, and systematicity as it was until a few days ago, has removed the Palestinian question from the world's attention, while at the UN the major powers have approved the Trump plan after a presumably exchange of favors and concessions in defense of their respective interests.
It was clear to everyone that the Palestinians had no other defense than international public opinion, which mobilized as long as the issue remained under the media spotlight. Now, the message seems to have gotten across that everything is resolved. Instead, the slaughter continues, and has systematically spread to the West Bank, where gangs of criminals, formed by settlers, protected and armed by the Israeli army, kill, loot, and set fires, attempting to prevent even minimal economic activities like olive harvesting or herding, which are nevertheless vital to the farmers who inhabit those lands.
The goal is clear: to create a condition of ever-increasing insecurity and unlivability, so as to push the population away and seek refuge elsewhere, just to gain a modicum of peace and livability. In this climate, international aid is dwindling, as is the attention of public opinion, which had once supported their cause.
It seems the Palestinians have no other option than the umbrella offered by the Saudi Kingdom. In order to counterbalance Israel's overwhelming power in the region, the Kingdom has offered the United States and Trump's insatiable appetite for profit so much money and investment that it is an unmissable proposition.
The condition posed by Bin Salman during his meeting with Trump at the White House appears to point toward the creation of two states in Palestine, but the promise obtained remains to be seen, and its implementation depends on the strength of the lobby supporting the Israeli government. Although weakened by the Israeli government's atrocities, it is still powerful enough to influence the US government. Now that the Palestinian issue appears to have entered the international negotiations between the powers preparing to manage a multipolar world, the room for maneuver to support the Palestinian cause appears to be narrower than ever.
The final icing on the cake appears to be the amnesty and pardon granted to Netanyahu by the President of the State of Israel at Trump's request, as a mandatory condition for continuing to secure the support and backing of his powerful US ally. To continue receiving the economic resources necessary to enable Israel to overcome the economic crisis caused by the prolonged war and the rapid decline in its productive capacity, a certain openness to US policies is required. However, the crisis in the State of Israel appears to be worsening due to the exodus from the country of many senior executives and personnel with technical and scientific skills, disgusted and concerned by the overall deterioration of Israeli institutions.
