(en) Greece, APO:[Athens]State terrorism will not pass | Solidarity rally for those arrested on December 6, 2025 (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Sat, 17 Jan 2026 08:32:23 +0200

On Monday, December 15, the postponed trial (three-member Misdemeanors) of those arrested during the December 6 demonstration in Athens, for the 17th anniversary of the state assassination of Alexandros Grigoropoulos and the social uprising of December '08, was set. The arrested are facing a number of misdemeanors, more specifically: disturbing the peace, resistance, disobedience, refusal to submit to fingerprinting, insults, illegal possession of a weapon, violence against employees, attempted serious bodily harm and aggravated assault. The heavy and fabricated indictment with which the comrades are confronted is nothing more than the depiction of the vengeful nature of the state apparatus towards those who continue to keep the road open in a period of heightened repression and intensification of the conditions of exploitation of those from below in every field of everyday life, while at the same time it demonstrates the intensity of the state repressive attack that the demonstration of December 6 received, with the direct aim of the state staffs to terrorize those who were on the street, those who were not there but saw the fury of the uniformed scum against the bodies of the demonstrators and those who still keep the flame of December burning and its precepts alive, of rebellion, social self-organization, class solidarity, militant resistance and the vision of Social Revolution.
The forces of repression on 6/12/2025 savagely, completely unprovoked and in a coordinated manner attacked a large part of the march and in particular the anarchist blocs, including our bloc, while it was in Panepistimiu, resulting in dozens of injuries and arrests. Among those arrested are a comrade and a comrade of the APO. This attack was violently carried out on a body of thousands of demonstrators with flash bangs, chemicals and extensive beatings. As for our bloc, the Praetorians of the state, after attacking from both sides, then surrounded it, creating a suffocating situation with no way out for the demonstrators.
The repressive attack on the December 6th march in Athens is part of the intensification of state repression against the struggling sections of society, against social and class resistance and especially against the anarchist movement and is not an isolated event. On the day of December 6th alone, dozens of arrests were made, the morning student march consisting of anarchist students and anarchist students moved under a suffocating police cordon, the encampment of occupation forces at the site of the assassination of Al. Grigoropoulos in Exarchia and the blockade and encirclement by forces of repression of the demonstration in Thessaloniki for about 2 hours, without allowing it to be completed, are just a few of the many examples of the intensity of the state's repressive campaign and the depth of modern totalitarianism, for the crushing of every voice that stands up against state and capitalist barbarity. But also in the demonstrations of the previous period, which were severely beaten and comrades and activists were faced with arrests and persecution, such as in the solidarity march in Palestine in Athens on 7/10/25 and in the march in memory of the anarchist activist Kyriakos Xymitiris and in solidarity with the activists in custody for the Ampelokipi case. At the same time, state mechanisms and in collaboration with the rectorate authorities have launched a series of persecutions against struggling students, with the aim of prevailing silence inside and outside the schools, where anyone who resists the restructuring of repression, control and subordination in higher education will either be condemned in courtrooms, as in the case of the anarchist student Z.M. for intervention by the Anarchist Students Initiative of Athens in solidarity with Palestine, with the plaintiff being the rector of NTUA Hadjigeorgiou and the prosecution witness being the dean Tsanakas, or they will be threatened with disciplinary action and expulsions like the students of the NTUA Architecture Department who occupied their school.
The depth of modern totalitarianism is manifested on the one hand by the continuous and more unfavorable restructurings against the large social majority, but also by the preparation of the social base for a warring society, the consolidation of a condition of silence and at the same time submission to the plans of the dominant and on the other hand by the crushing of the internal enemy, any resistance that manifests itself from below and aims to put a dam on the antisocial and criminal policies of the state and capital. That is why the anarchist movement, as long as the system of power is delegitimized and is in deep crisis, is the first to be targeted for repression both in physical terms and in ideological terms, through its slander and the operation of its isolation. However, the crisis in which the state and capitalist system finds itself does not necessarily lead to its collapse, on the contrary, it intensifies its attack with arrogance and heightened intensity, aiming at the numbness of social and class resistances and the prevalence of fear. It is, therefore, in our hands, in the hands of the plebeians to put up those embankments, to meet, to collectivize, to act horizontally and unmediatedly and to highlight the inexhaustible forces that are engendered within the collective processes and in the collective and organized struggle against the artificial divisions that the sovereigns impose, against state terrorism, exploitation, impoverishment, war, fascism, the state and capitalism. For a life with dignity, for a society of solidarity, freedom, equality, justice.
As anarchists, we have no other path than the one we have chosen, which gives strength to our dreams, which shapes camaraderie and gives flesh and blood to the vision of an emancipated, stateless and classless society. We have no other path than to fight for the Cause, the Social Revolution, Anarchy and Libertarian Communism. And that is what we will do.
